KGMI is a small market radio station with a big market sound, feel and expectations. It’s located in between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, nestled between the Puget Sound and Mount Baker. KGMI is one of 5 stations that make up the Cascade Radio Group, which is owned by Saga Communications.
Cascade Radio is looking for an experienced program director for its heritage newstalk radio station, KGMI. This person would be responsible for managing programming staff, talk and news programming. This is a hands-on, multi-faceted job that includes news anchoring, promotional direction, event planning, promotion directing, web administration, and occasional news writing. Our ideal candidate would be an excellent communicator—on the air, among staff, with clients and around our community. This person would be comfortable providing direction for 8-10 programming staff, and hosting or co-hosting a local issue-oriented daily or weekly talk show.
We’re looking for a candidate with a college degree, with minimum of 5 years of broadcast experience, preferably in newstalk format. A minimum of 3 years in leadership roles at radio stations. Someone who is team-oriented, creative, possesses good organizational skills, strong writing, producing skills and has the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Our ideal candidate would be able to help with a breaking news story, on-air anchoring, or fill-in for an anchor and/or talk host.
